Alaska Airlines has announced the destinations for its daily service out of Everett’s Paine Field.

When commercial service begins at the airport this fall, Alaska will offer 13 daily nonstop departures to eight cities including Las Vegas; Los Angeles; Orange County, California; Phoenix; Portland; San Diego; San Francisco; and San Jose, California.

Flight frequencies for each city and departure and arrival times will be announced later this year, subject to government approval, the airline said.

Alaska says fares from Everett will be similar to what passengers now pay at Sea-Tac Airport.

Propeller Airports and Snohomish County are currently building the new, state-of-the-art terminal designed to serve a market of a million people living in North King County and Snohomish County.

It’s expected to be completed by July.

The 29,000-square-foot terminal will have two gates and areas for check-ins and security screening.

The decision to allow commercial flights out of Paine Field has been well received by those who say it’s about time they have a local airport in Snohomish County.

Check latest traffic conditions

“It would be so much more convenient now to have an airport right here,” said pilot Brainard Lee.

But others say the potential noise and congestion are concerning.

“My mom has lived up there for four years, and yes, we’ve heard all four years, yes, traffic has gotten worse because we have more airline traffic coming in,” said Everett resident Jackie.

Alaska says its flights will increase air traffic at Paine Field just 6 percent.

United Airlines will also be operating commercial flights out of Paine Field this fall.

There is no word yet on potential destinations for its six daily flights.
