The Capitol Hill Block Party has grown into one of the most anticipated events of the local summer concert season. And the lineup has just been released, promising to make for a whole lot of happy hipsters to the three-day festival.

The headliners include popular singer-songwriter Neko Case, indie darlings Fitz and the Tantrums, Major Lazer, Phantogram, The Lumineers, Grimes, Aesop Rock w/ Rob Sonic & DJ Big Wiz, Youth Lagoon and more.

The Block Party runs July 20-22 and features six stages and over 100 bands spanning a six block area on Capitol Hill.

The festival focuses on so-called "indie music" with a mix of national and local acts. It has grown markedly each year since it's inception, expanding in recent years to three days and drawing over 10,000 people a day.

Tickets are $75 for a three-day pass until April 24th, then $85 after.

We'll be taking a closer look and listen to the lineup Sunday at 3p on Seattle Sounds.

No one is forcing you to go. Just as some people don't want to go to the Vans tour, or Bumbershoot. Different festivals for different people. :)

    Neko Case is awesome
...but I think I'll wait until she's back in a theater. I'm too sober and cranky these days for the Block Party. No puke on me...

    honestly...
at first glance, i thought "hipster-fest 2012," as well. BUT, i can honestly say i just don't know much about a lot of the bands playing. i'll do some homework, but i'm pretty sure it's still more of the mellow-indie pop that's been the norm around here for a while. that's fine. i still miss the days when rock was king of this town though...

    hm...
upon doing some research and listening to some of the music from quite a few of the bands listed... yeah. seems like a lot of indie pop, much of which borders on warmed over neo-new wave. (sigh.)
