Why not let each state choose if they support DACA?

Again Congress is debating a government shutdown.

The last shutdown in 2013 happened when Republicans were determined to block Obamacare. But the only thing it blocked was elderly war veterans from visiting the World War II Memorial.

Keeping DACA afloat

Back then it was Republican Senators led by Ted Cruz who forced this issue. This time, it’s Democrats forcing the issue because they see this as their only chance to protect the DACA participants who may look and talk and act like Americans, but who are dismissed by many Americans as simply lawbreakers.

“They’re more than that. They are the sons and daughters of America who want to be part of our future.”

Well, during that 2013 Obamacare standoff I made a modest proposal – that if the red states and the blue states can’t agree, let each state choose. Some could go with Obamacare, some could go with NO-bamacare, and we’d see which choice works. Which is pretty much where we’ve ended up today!

So I’m thinking, why not do the same thing with the DACA people? Some states want them to stay, and, as cruel as it may sound, some states want them to go. If it’s about creating more jobs, let’s stop guessing what works, and find out for real. Let the states that want them to keep them, and let the states that don’t want them to expel them, and let’s see which states prosper and which states don’t.

The monuments can stay open. And we can finally find out who’s right.

Ross: Are we killing car culture? Or is car culture killing the US?

I don’t think the question is whether we're going to "kill" our car culture. The real question is can we stop our car culture from killing the U.S.?
