Seattle’s iconic Pearl Jam is performing in their hometown for the first time in 5 years. The two concerts in August will raise money to fight the city’s homelessness crisis.

The band’s North American tour will hit a string of cities this summer. Two shows will be at Safeco Field on Aug. 8 and Aug. 10. The concert is “Raising funds and building partnerships to help alleviate Seattle-area homelessness.”

This will be the first time the legendary group has performed at Safeco Field, and the first concert in Seattle since it was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band played the KeyArena in 2013 after a four-year absence from Seattle.

Pearl Jam is not fond of the KeyArena, however. The band has previously commented that they do not approve of the venue’s acoustics. Pearl Jam’s management is currently working with the Oakview Group as it revamps KeyArena. The goal is to bring the venue up to NHL and NBA standards, as well as make it better for concerts.

Pearl Jam may be returning to Seattle, however, because of Tom Petty. The band enjoyed a Heartbreakers’ show at Safeco, which opened them up to the idea of playing there, according to Guerrilla Candy. Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready has already performed the National Anthem at Safeco Field.
