The Seattle Police Officers Guild in conjunction with the Seattle Police Pipe and Drum Band and Westlake Center, with support from the Seattle Police Department is holding a fundraiser to benefit the victims of the Oso area mudslide as well as the first responders who have been working tirelessly at the slide since March 22nd.
The group is outside Westlake Center collecting funds to donate to "The Soup Ladies" 501c3 fund which has been feeding the first responders who are working tirelessly at the slide site, and to the victims of the Oso area slide through the Snohomish County chapter of the American Red Cross.
All members of the Seattle Police Officers Guild and the Seattle Police Pipe and Drum Band are active SPD officers, who understand what it is like to be a first responder at tragic events such as the mudslide. They want to support both the responders and the victims of this tragic event by raising desperately needed funds. We are asking that the public come down to Westlake Center and support Seattle Police Officers as they in turn support the first responders and victims of this tragedy.
SPOG President Ron Smith stated "the men and women of the Seattle Police Officers Guild received an outpouring of support from the public during the WTO riots in 1999 and after the tragic murder of Officer Timothy Brenton a decade later. We, as first responders, know what long hours in a trying environment look and feel like, and we want to do our part to support those who are so deeply affected by the Oso mudslide."
