A stainless steel sculpture called “Splashdown,” by sculptor Chester Fields, is headed for the new Embassy Suites hotel across from CenturyLink Field.
The 5,000 pound sculpture begins the 2800-mile journey from the Polich-Tallix Foundry in Walden, NY Thursday and will be installed where thousands of Seahawks fans will see it as they walk by.
And while they might be tempted to think it’s a salute to the Seahawks, it actually depicts an eagle plucking a fish out of the water. It has no connection to the team. Although it would surprise no one if it ends up sporting Seahawks swag on gameday.
“Splashdown” was two years in the making. Its unveiling is set for next week.
