An impeachment opportunity for Ted Cruz

The irresponsible talk about impeachment provides Senator Ted Cruz with a wonderful opportunity: by speaking out strongly against any self-destructive scheme to impeach President Obama, the Texas Senator can show he’s a sane, constructive conservative, not a show-boating demagogue.
Sarah Palin recently called in to my radio show and we discussed her support for impeachment: even if the GOP sweeps this year’s elections and wins ten new Senate seats, they’d still need 12 Democrats to vote with them to remove Obama from office. Governor Palin couldn’t name a single Democratic Senator who might make that vote, and after two years working in Washington, I’m sure Ted Cruz also couldn’t identify any Democrats likely to abandon their leader.
The reason that Democrats promote impeachment talk is because they know it damages Republicans. Senator Cruz should declare: it’s always a mistake to give the Democrats exactly what they want.
