Spring ushered in with cold temps, lower snow levels

Of course the official start to spring includes wet weather and cold temperatures in Western Washington.
‘Extreme rainstorms’ increased in Seattle over past 15 years
After enjoying temperatures in the mid-to-upper 50s on Sunday, March 18, daytime highs begin to decrease as we celebrate the spring equinox at 9:15 a.m. on March 20.
By the weekend, we could see snow levels drop to around 1,000 feet.
“Always has to be that way,” KIRO 7 Meteorologist Nick Allard told Seattle’s Morning News. “Every year it does something like that.”
Some areas saw overnight temperatures dip down to 30 degrees or colder, before warming up March 19. Seattle hovered around 37 degrees in the morning.
Overnight temperatures will remain cold through the rest of the week.
Between Wednesday and Thursday, rain increases and winds pick up.
By Friday, Allard expects snow levels to drop to the 1,000-foot-level. Some lowland areas may even see a rain-snow mix.
But don’t let the forecast get you down. On the up-side, we are now enjoying more than 12 hours of daylight each day.
