The University of Washington seized the day — National Puppy Day — to introduce the newest addition to the Husky team — Dubs II.
He is UW’s 14th live mascot, and the second with the name. He’s referred to as Dubs II.
Dubs is an Alaskan malamute. He was born on Jan. 4, 2018. He has a year of mascot training ahead of him before he represents the school in 2019. During that time he will live with an adopted UW alumni family. More than 90 alumni applied to be Dubs’ caretakers.
The new mascot shares the same grandfather as the current Dubs who is still on the job. This will be his last season. He first hit the field in 2009.
You can see photos of Dubs II on his twitter account.
