Rantz: Kshama Sawant blasted for angry tweet about Barbara Bush

Apr 18, 2018, 10:34 AM | Updated: 11:17 am

Less than 24 hours after the death of former First Lady Barbara Bush, Seattle councilwoman Kshama Sawant blasted a tribute that simply said “Rest in peace and power, Barbara Bush.”

The well wishes were sent by the Women’s March official Twitter account. And it was too much for Sawant. She called the tweet “terrible.”

She’s getting blasted in response. Most of which we can’t reprint.

The reaction is justified. Sawant betrays her own brand by attacking someone who is recently deceased to push some half-baked political position about covering the ruling class. You don’t undermine struggles of anyone when you say RIP to an influential, powerful, non-controversial female political figure. Bush played no role in any of the fights Sawant is currently engaged in. Like Sawant, ironically, Bush was anti-Trump.

If you’d like to put historical context to the life of the First Lady, I suppose you can do it. But it seems despicable to take such a petty issue with a tweet that harmed absolutely no one.
