The dark, cold, wet days of winter are upon us. And that sends many of us heading for warmer climes. We checked in with travel expert Kari Mollen Valley at Bellevue-based Stellar Travel for the top destinations for us sun starved Northwest travelers.

Located on the tip of Baja, Los Cabos, Mexico has been a favorite destination for sun-starved Northwest travelers for decades thanks to Alaska Airlines hold on the peninsula. What's not to love about 80 degree days, beautiful beaches, boating, sportfishing, golf and plenty of other activities, not to mention old world Mexican charm. A search of airfares finds you can get down there in January for less than $800.
