Happy Birthday! Safeco Field celebrates 15 years

It seems like just yesterday, but Safeco Field turns 15 years old this week. There have been plenty of memorable moments. Here are the top 15, courtesy of Mariners Director of Public Information Rebecca Hale.

Groundbreaking - March 8, 1997. An estimated 30,000 people turned out for the official groundbreaking ceremony. Ken Griffey Jr. made a special trip from Spring Training to preside. Construction on the 27-month project began three weeks later as the first of 1,400 pilings were driven into the ground.
