A day after Amazon announced it will add thousands of jobs in Vancouver, B.C., the company announced it will hire thousands more outside of Washington state.

The company will add 2,000 jobs in Boston as it expands its tech hub. Those jobs will be in fields including machine learning, speech science, cloud computer, and robotics engineering.

To accommodate all the new employees, Amazon will expand into a 430,000-square-foot space on Boston’s waterfront. The company plans to open the new office in 2021.

Boston is one of 20 cities on the finalist list for Amazon’s second headquarters.

Since 2011, Amazon has created more than 3,500 jobs in Massachusetts.

On Monday, Amazon announced plans for a new 416,000-square-foot office in Vancouver, B.C. There are plans to employ 3,000 more workers across similar fields as in Boston. The company expects to have approximately 5,000 employees in Vancouver in the near future, GeekWire reports.

Though the company continues its expansion outside of Washington state, it is still growing in Seattle. It’s expected Amazon will occupy nearly 14 million square feet within the next few years.
