KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson may have found a new gig for Councilmember Kshama Sawant when she is — eventually — voted off the Seattle City Council — a music career touring with ’80s rock group The Police.

As Dori related on Monday’s show, Councilmember Sally Bagshaw confronted Sawant at that morning’s council briefing over Sawant using City Hall printers to make posters for her personal socialist message. Sawant’s response was to stutter awkwardly — a mix of the syllables, “de,” “do,” and “da.”

Rock music fans, however, noticed that Sawant’s sounds resembled a certain ’80s hit — “De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da” by The Police. Was it possible that Sawant was practicing for a soon-to-be-revealed music career?

“A couple of listeners said, ‘You know what? That could be a good revival tour if we could get Stewart Copeland and Sting and Andy Summers back together and get Kshama Sawant to tour with them,'” Dori said. “Then that little stumble kind of makes sense.”

There is no word yet on when Kshama and The Police will start their world tour, but the group has at least one fan already.

“I would pay to see this,” Dori said.
