One person was sent to the hospital with serious injuries after a crash involving two semi-trucks on southbound I-5 near Marysville Wednesday morning.
Police say the crash at 205th Street Northeast near SR 531 was caused by a semi-truck that didn’t slow down in a construction zone around 4:45 a.m. The truck struck a pickup occupied by two people.
In total, two semi-trucks, a passenger truck, and a trailer were involved in the crash. About 100 gallons of diesel fuel spilled onto the roadway.
Initial reports said nobody was seriously hurt in the crash. Marysville Fire later updated that information, reporting one person suffered serious injuries, and two people suffered minor injuries. A fourth person is in “stable” condition.
Two lanes of southbound I-5 opened shortly before 6 a.m. All lanes reopened just before 7:30 a.m.
The Marysville School District warned parents that school buses were delayed because of the traffic backups caused by the crash.
