Police say a blue sedan pulled up to Third Avenue and Pine Street at approximately 10:30 p.m. Two men inside the car began arguing with a crowd of people standing in front of a McDonald’s.
Witnesses say one of the men in the sedan had a hatchet and a baseball bat. During the argument, the suspect hit the victim with the hatchet.
Both men drove off.
The victim was rushed to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He’s now in serious condition.
KIRO 7 spoke to the victim’s mother, who identified him as David Groce. She said the father of four children is recovering from a surgery and is scheduled for another Friday.
The suspects were described as black. No other information on the two men is currently available.
Two days ago, a man was shot just one block away during what police say was a drug deal.
