Thousands of pounds of chicken feathers spill onto I-5 in Federal Way

Crews cleared thousands of pounds of chicken feathers off northbound I-5 in Federal Way after a semi-truck rolled onto its side Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred just south of South 320th Street around 3:30 a.m. All lanes reopened around 7:30 a.m.

The driver of the truck admitted to KIRO 7 that he fell asleep at the wheel.

Washington State Department of Transportation crews were at the scene with equipment scooping up the feathers. As much as 40,000 pounds of feathers spilled onto the roadway.

Guard rail repairs were also required.

No injuries were reported.
