Everett officer pleads not guilty to manslaughter

The Everett police officer charged with manslaughter for shooting a drunken driving suspect pleaded not guilty in Snohomish County Superior Court.

The Everett Herald reports Officer Troy Meade remained free without bail after Thursday's plea, under orders not to leave the state or possess weapons.

Prosecutors say he was not justified in shooting Niles Meservey of Stanwood last June in the parking lot of a restaurant.

Other customers reported Meservey was intoxicated. Investigators believe Meade was attempting to prevent him from driving away in his Corvette.

Meservey had been shocked with a stun gun and had rammed a chain-link fence when Meade fired through the rear window, hitting him seven times.

No you didn't read what I wrote
I guess blinded by your hate you take any post that looks at the facts in a critical way as one that tries to justify his actions. I personally think he is unfit to be a police officer because he can't deal with the pressure and stress. Maybe the victim reached over to the glove compartment or passenger seat and this police officer paniced and just let him have it. I find it amazing that everybody claims to know the facts in a case when the true fact is that they only know what other people reported what some people said. In fact it is people like you that are responsible for our failed justice system because if we would let you guys judge people this officer would be hanging from the next tree based on what some people said. And then when we find out somebody lied we just send a sorry note to his family....right???

I DO know what I am talking about. I was a party of interest to the investigation, and through public disclosure, I received 2 cds, with the entire investigation, interviews, 911 calls, etc. Do you realize that this scum bag has yet to provide a statement to investigators? I believe that speaks for itself! So condemn who you like, but this is a bad cop. And, as a personal friend to the victim, I want this guy to rot in hell! Better yet, I hope they put him with the "special offenders" in prison. He deserves it! Now, go have your own reality check!

give him his day in court
don't be so quick to judge. Wait for the jury's decision.

You've got to be kidding. Why not say that to the cop himself? That poor guy he murdered deserved a day in court too. A dinner on me to Daniel's Broiler to the jury that convicts him or to the convict who kills him in prison. That is a death worth celebrating.

Even this scumbag cop's partner said this was a bad shoot
Mr. Meservey broke the law. And Officer Meade decided to take upon himself the role of judge, jury, and executioner. Read his partner's statements. According to his partner, Officer Meade said, "I'm going to end this right now," before completely unloading his weapon into the back of the victim who, by that time...again, according to Meade's partner...posed absolutely no threat to anybody. In saying, "I'm going to end this right now," it is clear to me that Officer Meade acted with some amount of forethought before executing Mr. Meservey. And apparently the Snohomish County Prosecutor believes Meade committed a crime or they certainly would not be bringing charges against an officer of the law.

Officer Meade will be receiving the very rights he denied to Mr. Meservey. I hope it's a quick trial.

I trust the police officer's judgement.
Corvette dude had many chances to do the right thing. Instead, he disobeyed police orders and escalated the situation into a possible life or death for everyone in that parking lot. A 3500 lb machine hitting a fence with 250hp of force could EASILY kill an INNOCENT bystander on the other side of that fence. Corvette dude made some horrible decisions and put the cop in a situation where he had to make a split-second call that he did. I'm pretty sure a Corvette can do a 180 degree burnout turnaround and be heading towards 15 people in the parking lot in a couple short seconds. Sorry to the friends and family of C.D., but he chose his tragic fate.
