Two people were injured in a home invasion robbery in Tacoma.

Police spokesman Mark Fulghum told The News Tribune of Tacoma several suspects burst into an apartment before 6 a.m. Friday on the second floor of a building in the Hilltop neighborhood.

They pistol-whipped a man they found sleeping, but he was able to fight back, firing a shotgun and wounding one of the intruders. The others fled.

The robbery victim was treated at St. Joseph Medical Center, and the wounded suspect was treated at Tacoma General Hospital.

Fulghum says officers also arrested one of the other suspects.

    Wow, lets check the score.
minus 5 points for not waking up when your front door was forced, minus 5 points for having a non-secured hollow core bedroom door, Plus 25 points for securing a weapon and returning fire WHILE being pistol-whipped. Yeah, He's 15 points in the black. Good on you.

    Makes you wonder...
...who is it that sleeps with a loaded shotgun?

I hope they never come to my house...
I am a light sleeper with a .44 mag within a short reach.

But, I DO NOT want to clean up the mess it would make.

Good for him though, we need more articles about these creeps getting shot. It might make others think twice. It's too bad the crook didn't get killed though. You watch, he'll probably come back and try to sue the resident for shooting him.

    Congratulations! You got one!
Let's ask the guy who pulled his gun out on the Tacoma Mall shooter a couple of years ago if he can still draw as fast in a wheelchair.

Here's the difference: They didn't invade this guy's apartment in a Seattle park or playground, they invaded his domicile. I don't care what you do inside of your four walls. But hey, don't let the facts get in your way.

As far as I can tell the guy that got shot at the Tacoma Mall made one (almost) fatal mistake.

He used his mouth when he should have been using his trigger. He warned the guy when he should have just fired on him. So much for the compassionate route... Though I can't say I wouldn't have done the same. It was a crowded mall and bullets don't always stop where you want them too. Nobody wants to have to shoot someone, well nobody sane anyway. But sometimes needs be.

Touche. Still, there's a difference between keeping a handgun handy for defense of your home and keeping a loaded shotgun where it's close enough that you can grab, point, and fire it while being pistol-whipped. I'm guessing he's a drug dealer.

I wonder if the crooks had a permit for that pistol
