31-year term for stabbing on I-5 in Seattle

Forty-three-year-old Christel David Murphy of Kent pleaded guilty in September to first-degree murder and was sentenced Friday in King County Superior Court.

He apologized in court to the family of Jane Kariuki and said he didn't know why he did it.

The couple had been arguing Oct. 16, 2008, and he was in the back seat and she was in the front passenger seat when he put her in a neck hold and stabbed her 31 times in the neck, face and chest.

Murphy had a history of domestic violence, including assaulting Kariuki.

  Can't wait for all the rednecks with the genius level vocabulary and the idiot level spelling capabilities to come out of the woodwork, like they did on that dipstick in Arlington. Shooting the guy IN THE BACK, over 6 blocks from the scene of the "alleged" crime. Hey RandyF (and his idiot minions) did you flunk out of grade school or what? So I suppose this guy was justified in stabbing his girlfriend from "behind" (wow....just like the "RIGHTEOUS", HE MAN in Arlington did when he shot the "alleged" burglar in the back)....because she "wouldn't shut up?" or something equally heinous? (big word....I will wait for the rednecks to look that one up). You think this guy should still be walking the streets, or is the sentence justified? Is the guy in Arlington going to be "going on a little vacation" or are they going to let him go home? I'm not the judge and I'm not the jury. The only thing I know for sure is this dude is bad and is going away.
