Kirby Wilbur: Thank you for 16 years!

kirby

I remember hearing Kirby Wilbur's first show on radio and just hoping they'd give him another shot. They did, and he informed Puget Sound conservatives for 16 years. I had the privilege of working for him as his producer and fill-in for a few of those years. Kirby's a true believer, a warrior in the battlefield of ideas, and living proof that, contrary to claims in some parts of the media, talk radio is not "just entertainment."

Kirby is no longer on Seattle radio and while he has been a part of the competition for some years now, he has remained a friend. Now, he is only friend. After all his years of fighting the good fight in Seattle (including a nationally recognized battle over HillaryCare), Kirby deserves to by thanked by conservatives throughout the Puget Sound.

I know his efforts to fight liberalism/socialism and pass conservatism on to the next generation will continue. Indeed they have been a defining characteristic of his life. But for his time building talk radio and being a part of the local vanguard, please join me in thanking Kirby Wilbur and wishing him well in all his future battles!

    I'm SO UPSET!!!
I would like to believe this was Kirby's choice, but something tells me Fisher Communications just wanted a national host for that time slot. It will much quieter around here in the mornings. At least we still have Dave in the afternoons, at least for now. I, too, listened from the beginning, and am one of Kirby's most loyal fans. He's a conservative hero and I miss him already.

    Thank you, Kirby!
I used to listen to you when you had that evening show on KVI that went until midnight! You were always a star. Thank you, Kirby, for everything you've done to help conservatism. I started listening to KVI back in 1991 when the first Iraq war started. You and the other hosts helped get me interested in politics and got me more informed and involved than I ever would have been before I started listening to KVI. Thanks for everything, Kirby, and please stay involved. Your community needs you.

What is Fisher broadcastings business model get rid of all the local guys? every time they have made a change they loose listeners Michael Medved is a good example. I spent a lot of years riding to work with Kirby, will miss him. Thanks Kirby

    Our Loss
Kirby is a true patriot and has worked hard for the people of the Washington. He is willing to do the hard work and stick up for what he believes in. I will miss him on air for now, but hope to continue to see him often in the trenches while we pursue liberty and freedom. I hope to hear him again on air soon. Thank you Kirby.

Glenn Beck just gained a new listener
Kirby, you've been my ride along companion every morning for the last 14 years. I am extremely sad, upset, disappointed and disgusted with how Fisher handled this. One thing I know though -- you will absolutely land on your feet and be more successful than ever. Please know that you will be greatly missed. And to The Powers That Be at KVI -- You've just lost a listener (and potential customer for your advertisers) for life. Glenn Beck will be my new morning companion. KVI's stupidity is KTTH's gain.

    It's all about $$$...
...and ratings. With Glenn Beck now in the market, Kirby lost much of his audience. And of course it's a lot cheaper to air a national show than to staff a local program.
