Kirby Wilbur: Thank you for 16 years!

kirby

I remember hearing Kirby Wilbur's first show on radio and just hoping they'd give him another shot. They did, and he informed Puget Sound conservatives for 16 years. I had the privilege of working for him as his producer and fill-in for a few of those years. Kirby's a true believer, a warrior in the battlefield of ideas, and living proof that, contrary to claims in some parts of the media, talk radio is not "just entertainment."

Kirby is no longer on Seattle radio and while he has been a part of the competition for some years now, he has remained a friend. Now, he is only friend. After all his years of fighting the good fight in Seattle (including a nationally recognized battle over HillaryCare), Kirby deserves to by thanked by conservatives throughout the Puget Sound.

I know his efforts to fight liberalism/socialism and pass conservatism on to the next generation will continue. Indeed they have been a defining characteristic of his life. But for his time building talk radio and being a part of the local vanguard, please join me in thanking Kirby Wilbur and wishing him well in all his future battles!

    How about...
Kirby moves over to KTTH and replaces Savage. Savage is just a grumpy old man who is perpetuating a schtick to make money. I would definitely tune in if Kirby took over. Right now, the radio goes to country after Boze Show when I'm riding home.

    Kirby Wilbur
I have listened to Kirby for many, many years; he woke me up every morning when I was still working for a living!!! I have always found him to be upright and straightforward, and a patriot. I met him at a Toys For Tots luncheon and a Memorial Day event... Good luck Kirby! KVI has lost a good man, and another listener... Semper Fi from an old Marine Naval Aviator!

    Local Hosts Beware:
To a point, this should put the fear of God into local radio hosts. But, I understand that radio hosts must also be part Gypsy (Town to Town - Up and Down the Dial; Thanks WKRP) it's the name of the game. Thank You, Kirby - You will be missed in the mornings. (This is starting to feel like a funeral). Dave, we love and Jake too. I know you're not leaving, but I don't want any regrets when you decide (many years from now) to leave the afternoon; or go to the sister station like John did. Shane~

    Best wishes
I am sure he will land on his feet. Hope to hear him localy again soon, as he was conservative talk radio to me and many others. No offence intended Mr. Boze!

    KVI loses another one.
Well I've been listening to KVI from 5 to 9 then switching to KTTH for the rest of the day. I guess there'll be no channel change required from now on. It just stays on KTTH. I don't know what they're thinking over at KVI. Over the years they've lost Rush, Medved, Mike Seigel, Weisbach, and now Kirby. They did get Weisbach back but only for an hour. And for how long?

    All the best Kirby!
KVI's management blows it again. I reduced my Kirby consumption when the show went to the "....and Company" format. The seriousness that Kirby provided was reduced with the added fluff. Management kept messing around with John Carlson's format. Teaming him with Ken Schramm was a horrible mistake. Five minutes of Schramm was about all I could bear. I even liked Bryan Suits although it seems like that there was some internal friction with the senior hosts. I will miss Kirby and hope that another gig comes along soon. I second bumping Savage and putting Kirby on if he can keep his eyes open that late in the day.

    I'll take thirds
I will jion the other two and say move over Savage and get a insitution, an brave American, and a fighter in the world of conservative speak. God will I know continue to bless you Kirby, however you will be greatly missed. Kvi for shame!! You have given me no reason to tune in anymore. There was a time when I never changed my dial and was always on your station. Now it never will be.

    Wow
dissapointed to hear this news..I also listened to Kirby back when He did the night time show.. he inspired me to learn and appreciate history and politics..I'll miss him. It would be great if KTTH would Bring him over..I'd like to see him do some of the teaching like he used to do in the evenings. All I can say is Thank you Kirby, you made the last 16 years a lot better and a whole lot more interesting..May God Bless You.

    Perplexing, bewildering & predictable...
Although I listen primarily to Glenn Beck during Kirby's hours (at least the 6-9am ones), I would occasionally go back to Kirby whenever Glenn strayed into a subject of less interest. Kirby is a Seattle radio fixture and a man of some national stature - as evidenced by his fill-ins for Sean Hannity and sometime TV gigs. When a man of Kirby's experience and ability goes down and is replaced by . . . (fill in blank by a secondary national host), it hurts the Northwest community and all Kirby brought to each discussion. I am hopeful Kirby lands on KTTH opposite KVI's Mark Levin. (That would present a tougher choice than the current one.) For now, I'm just perplexed and bewildered (BeWilbured?) by an all-too-predictable action by Fisher/KVI.
