Kirby Wilbur: Thank you for 16 years!

kirby

I remember hearing Kirby Wilbur's first show on radio and just hoping they'd give him another shot. They did, and he informed Puget Sound conservatives for 16 years. I had the privilege of working for him as his producer and fill-in for a few of those years. Kirby's a true believer, a warrior in the battlefield of ideas, and living proof that, contrary to claims in some parts of the media, talk radio is not "just entertainment."

Kirby is no longer on Seattle radio and while he has been a part of the competition for some years now, he has remained a friend. Now, he is only friend. After all his years of fighting the good fight in Seattle (including a nationally recognized battle over HillaryCare), Kirby deserves to by thanked by conservatives throughout the Puget Sound.

I know his efforts to fight liberalism/socialism and pass conservatism on to the next generation will continue. Indeed they have been a defining characteristic of his life. But for his time building talk radio and being a part of the local vanguard, please join me in thanking Kirby Wilbur and wishing him well in all his future battles!

    All around nice guy....
I am sure. But very politically partisan. If you like your politics conservative and heavily threaded with religion (his), he is your man! I always laugh when some yahoo calls up Dori and quotes Kirby as saying "...."! I don't write this post in disrespect for Mr. Wilbur, I just have a different take than him and most others here. But I admit I PURPOSELY listened to him occasionally, and sometimes on a daily basis. If you don't listen to both sides, how do you know what is going on? I have a feeling he will end up somewhere else in the Seattle market. Whether or not he replaces Savage is to be seen. I have listened to Savage over the years. His motive may be good (my guess, but I can't be sure) but the way he gets his points out is insane! He comes acrossed as an angry man that feels very insecure because nobody is listening to him! Didn't sense that with Kirby, even when he was being challenged by a caller. Again, I have a feeling (not a tingle down my leg), that he will be just fine. Wouldn't it be ironic if he replaced Boze?

Add me to the put Kirby in after Dave vote
I, too, would like to replace Savage with Kirby. Savage says some nasty things. I consider myself a conservative and don't hate people that are different than me, like Savage does. Kirby is a good guy, a local guy, and we need upbeat and moral local guys who look after their community as well as the world at large. And let Kirby pick his own format - it always works better. Don't screw with the hosts, it doesn't pay!

    Thanks Kirby!
Thank You Kirby for so many great listening hours of Common Sense political dialogue. Though you will be sorely missed on the air, I believe that next year, your many friends will ask you to make a personal sacrifice, in order to serve a much larger audience.

    KVI does it again....
Say it isn't so... Previously, KVI lost/fumbled/fired local Medved.. KVI really paid for that one though. Medved was a major force for getting Rush L to make the switch from the 10000W KVI to the 50000W KTTH... Now they fumble, live and local, Kirby.. I enjoyed the local perspective, in the AM.

    Wow!!
My mom was a lobbyist, so I got an early start in talk radio. I'm 28 now and we started listening to KVI when it first became a political station before Kirby was on the air. I remember when Mike Siegel had that spot! Kirby was the most enjoyable host in the morning for a long time and this was like firing Captain Kangaroo for me, since I grew up on this stuff. After they canned Medved, I stopped listening to KVI at all and started listening to KTTH when he came on over here. I was pleasantly surprised when I heard Mike Siegel in the morning with "Grasshopper" as his producer! You could tell firing Michael Medved shot them in the foot. They've been shuffling hosts ever since to keep up! I also would like to see Michael Savage off the air; he's an annoying sociopath that perpetually contradicts himself. KTTH, are you listening? I hope Kirby moves over here.

    HERE HERE!
Replace Savage with Kirby. Kirby inspires optimism, while Savage certainly does not.

    New doors will open
Kirby, when God closes a door He opens a new one. I'll be looking forward to seeing where that door takes you. Thanks for all you've done to fight the good fight against the statists.

    +1000, replace savage with kirby.
I cannot listen to Savage--he is a joke. Replace Savage with Kirby. The other station now officially has an empty tank. Classy post by Dave Bose, at any rate.

    Idiots
Fisher management has just proven that they are morons. I don't care what the ratings for Kirby were - they have got to be better than for nationally syndicated shows, and their local ad revenue will now come to a virtual halt. Fisher is dead. Long live everybody else.
