THE QUESTION for President Obama on civilian trials...

Mr. President, if Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the confessed mastermind of 9-11, is judged "not guilty" by jury trial or because of court technicalities, are you going to let him go free?

    nice
he can live in a little shack on white house. They can be friends! Khalid can babysit O's kids, housesit, maybe even invite some friends from "out of town" and have a "party" at the white house with Obama. Sounds good right? Obama wants him free, he can have him. Oh boy, does he deserve him.

    and wow
Fencewalker, that was really low. I can see how you don't agree (surprise, surprise) but frankly that was out of line. But then again, we can't exactly expect you to be classy.

Fencewalker, or should I call you....
"fell off a long time ago".... Anyway, that is a valid legal question. If a civilian court deems that any part of the Khalid Sheik Mohammed arrest was not proper and violated any laws, he would be freed. Frankly, because he was treated as an enemy combatant and was placed in prison for the last several years before a trial, it is entirely possible. Bringing him on US soil means that he now has the right to a speedy trial. What if his attorney argues that Club Gitmo was US soil? He could be released.

    I hear
the Lincoln bedroom is quite nice. Perhaps he could stay there. Miss adventures has the right idea. We just need to show him some hospitality and he'll be sorry for what he did and won't hurt anyone ever again.

    Boze scores a direct hit!
That is why the Campaigner-In-Chief purposely had the announcement made while he was out of the country. Pathetic...

There are plenty of other charges to keep in one's "back pocket" to follow up if these (in the unlikely case) don't end up with a conviction. From what I heard (so far) the civilian courts have a pretty good record of convicting terrorists (300ish?). It looks like the military has convicted about three. Are we now afraid of these people? A few posts ago somebody was implying the media were chicken for posting stuff that inflamed radical Islamic anger.

    And on Another Note
Giving these guys a trial under the auspices of the military implies some level of honor....and statehood. These people are common criminals (mass murderers...a la Manson) and should be treated as such. If convicted, they can be treated like the excrement that goes with it.
