If the ceilings in your home seem too low, changing the paint color can make them seem higher. I recommend painting the ceilings two to three shades lighter than the wall color. Ask your paint retail store to mix the ceiling paint two to three shades lighter than the wall color. For walls featuring a more striking color such as lavender or smoke blue, consider a more neutral coordinating color such as mayonnaise or a light smoky grey. White ceilings are often the least attractive color in the northwest. The bright white shows every shadow, and does not compliment most paint colors.
