Housh's Sideline Outbursts; Helping or Hurting
By Matt Pitman
The topic was talked about all
day. It will be talked about all week. On Sunday you saw,
I saw it, Jim Mora saw it, Matt Hasselbeck saw it, we ALL
saw T.J. Houshmandzadeh going off on the Seahawks
sideline.
Early in the first quarter Hasselbeck and Housh failed to hook up on what looked like it had '6' written all over it. Hasselbeck thought Housh would make an adjustment to the ball. Housh was expecting the ball on his back shoulder. What happened was the play was broken up by Terence Newman, end of story. That led to an animated conversation between #8 and #84.
Listen here as Matt Hasselbeck addresses the situation. He starts by saying "That's just T.J." He goes into great detail about the play, and says, things between he and Housh are just fine.
Later in the game, in the third quarter Housh was seen on the sideline venting some frustration. A lot of frustration. The arms were going, he was pacing, and he was sounding off. Not even to anyone in particular. His team was losing, he hadn't made any big plays, he wanted the ball more, and he didn't care who knew it.
Head Coach Jim Mora didn't seem to mind at all. Saying it was nothing serious and that Matt and Housh are still getting used to one another, and he has zero problem with Housh wearing his emotions on his sleeve (to borrow a tired cliche).
Listen to Mora talk about the incident.
12 hours for the 12th man gave everyone a chance to sound off. Here is some of what was said about Housh. His mouth, hit attitude, his timing, his passion. You name it, and someone weighed in on it Monday.
Chris Egan with Ray Roberts and Clare Farnsworth started off during "Seahawks Insiders." Egan loved the show of emotion and passion.
Ray Roberts says not so fast on the "rah- rah" attitude. Big Ray doesn't like what he viewed as a selfish display.
The Kevin Calabro Show tackled the topic. Kevin calls him "Hollywood Housh." It's a pretty good rip job by K.C. If Calabro had his way, one of the long time veteran Seahawks would pull him aside and say shut up, bub.
Check out Kevin Calabro who is pretty heated!
Dave Wyman followed up Kevin's rant with a clear message; There is no room for the way Housh was acting on the sideline in Dallas.
I always tend to put a lot of stock in what former players like Ray and Dave have to say on issues like this. They are very clear in their takes on this. It doesn't help, it HURTS in the long run.
You've heard from the QB, you've heard from the Head Coach. You've heard from the Insiders including two guys in Ray and Dave who played this game for a long time. Now it's your turn.
I'm very curious to take the pulse out there. No doubt you're a mad about this teams 2 and 5 record, and the bad football they've played to get them there. Which side of the argument do YOU fall on? Are the actions of T.J. Houshmandzadeh good for the team? Does it or can it light a spark? Or is it just not necessary and in the way for this unit of 53 men trying to turn things around at every level? Is there room for actions like his?
Leave your comments below 12th Man!
