Rob Johnson Third Surgery a Success

Comments   |   Print this   |   E-mail this

Just spoke to Rob Johnson who said he was "Awesome," after his third surgery of the fall.

Johnson had an up close view of just what was going on in his left wrist as he insisted in not being put under for the surgery.

"I watched it on the big screen and you could just tell the good side and the bad side. The bad side looked like spaghetti and there was a hole in the tendon."

The doctor patched the hole, cleaned it out and according to Johnson when he was done, the previously bad side looked like the good side.

He faces a month of rehab on the wrist and then says he should be good to go. He is progressing nicely after the two hip surgeries, saying that there are things he can do now just 14 days out of the second surgery that he couldn't do before.

"There is no cracking, no grinding no popping. I feel I can use my hips hitting, flexing, shifting, getting low behind the plate to catch Felix's 96mph sinker."

He looks forward to being ready to go in spring training.

Mama don't let your babies grow up to be catchers
Wow! What a price to pay just to healthy enough to play. Personally, I would have just asked for a DVD of the event. I get knocked out for a teeth cleaning.

    Wow
I have a hard time relating to these guys - they take multiple surgeries for granted, and much of the time their bodies are completely shot by the time they're in their 40s. Under other circumstances I often like to point out that they're being extremely well compensated for playing a kid's game, and that's true; but physically some of these guys end up paying a significant price as well. Good luck, Rob - hope you're feeling great by spring training!
