Sounders Near PostThe Seattle Sounders F.C. blog with Libby Denkmann
Brad Evans looks frustrated. After missing a clearance ball in the center of the field, he runs down an Houston player and shoves him down from behind, earning a yellow. It looks like sloppy, frustrated play after a number of missed chances in this match.
Tonight's attendance is 35,807--the largest crowd ever for an MLS cup playoff game.
Another sloppy card goes to Brian Mullan for shoving Zakuani down several seconds after he passed the ball. Emotions are obviously running high.

about...
I'm a longtime soccer player and fan. My career started
with the Audubon Owls, the meanest group of 1st graders
ever to play 'small side' ball (6 v. 6 players on the
field). We won every game (who kept score?) and ate orange
slices at half time. I was hooked immediately.
Somewhere along the line I was drafted as a goalkeeper--a
sure sign of crazyness. The pressure felt by keepers is
intense. In mere seconds you can become the hero or the
goat of the entire match. But for me, nothing was more
rewarding than launching myself across the goal and feeling
the thrill of a big save.
After years of local recreational, high school, and select
club play, I'm excited to learn and fall in love with our
new MLS side along with the rest of the Pacific Northwest.
Before long, we'll all be bleeding neon-green and blue.
Go Sounders!
