A look at University of Washington sports.
Wrapping things up
I try to be credible and admit when I'm wrong, so I will be the first to say I was wrong in my prediction that USC would win this game. I wasn't going out on a limb by any means, but I said that the Trojans simply had too much talent and depth to overcome for Washington. I was wrong, plain and simple.
I'm also glad.
I've told at least a dozen people "congratulations" already and I haven't even left the press room. There are so many Husky fans who feel a huge relief after a win like this. Fans who have paid hard-earned money for years, and for the last few have been rewarded with nothing but losses. Congratulations to all of them.
The key factors in this game from my view are as follows. #1 was the UW defense holding USC to 0-10 on third down. #2 was the three turnovers the defense forced. And the third was the way the offense spread the field, mixed their run and pass plays and used play action with Locker rolling out a bunch to open things up and make it easy for Locker to have options. He seldom ran with the ball. The final stats say 8 carries for 18 yards, but four of those were sacks. He ran for the lone UW touchdown and pick up a first down on another. Great to see him staying in the pocket and finding his weapons.
Sarkisian says he has a "24 hour rule". Enjoy this game for 24 hours, then it's back to work. Washington will visit Stanford next Saturday in their first road game of the year.
The future is bright for this team, so expect more fireworks.
If you're a Husky fan, I wish you could have been here today. You would have experienced one of the best days of your sports life for sure. I didn't attend the U-Dub, but I feel great for everyone who did.
UW 16, #3 USC 13. Congratulations!!!!

This isn't a great shot but I was hustling to get to the postgame press conference. These are two of the final players to leave the field (Brendan Lopez and Eric Guttrop.) They are in the tunnel headed to the locker room.

These fans were in front of the band, who were in the stands playing. The P-A announcer kept telling them it was time to leave the field, but they weren't paying too much attention.

The UW band usually does a performance on the field after each home game, but since the crowd stormed the field, they had to stay in the stands.

The crowd had been disapatting somewhat before I got down on the turf, but there were still plenty of fans enjoying the moment of beating the Trojans.

Huskies of all types are whooping it up and finding this to be very emotional.
Former players are crying, administrators are hugging, everyone is happy in Huskyville after beating #3 USC 16-13.
Earlier in my blog I wondered if this might be the biggest UPSET in school history.
Well, they just announced in the press area that this is the biggest since the UW beat WSU in the Apple Cup in 2002. It was a road game that Washington won 29-26 in triple overtime. Remember that one? Washington State was ranked #3 at the time.
As for home upsets, this was the biggest since the Huskies won 13-3 in 1981 against guess who? Yep, USC.
I still think this upset is bigger than those two from that standpoint that the Huskies in '81 and '02 were winning some games. This year's team wasn't expected to do all that well, maybe four wins as predicted by most, so to win a game of this magnitude just three games into the season after an 0-12 debacle, why, I think this is bigger.
More photos to come.

My cell phone is ringing quite a bit as radio stations are calling me for reports.
I'm gonna attempt to get through that sea of purple and get to the post game press conference, after which I'll tell you the Huskies had to say.
More later.....
Washington 16, USC 13.
I still don't believe it.

They're playing "Tequila" while the crowd is going nuts! 16-13 UW beat #3 USC!!

Half of Husky stadium is down on the field after the UW beat USC 16-13.
That could be the biggest upset in school history, as USC is #3 nationally.
It snaps a seven game losing streak to the Trojans and firmly plants Washington as a program that has come back from the dead.
Yes, there are still nine games to play, but this is amazing.
Photos coming up.
