Seahawks

Seahawks Owner Paul Allen has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and is undergoing chemotherapy. After beating Hodgkin’s lymphoma more than 20 years ago, Allen “is optimistic he can beat this, too.”

Matt Pitman’s Monday report from the VMAC has audio of Jim Mora’s entire press conference. Mora was extremely candid about numerous calls he felt were missed. Pitman also reported on Darnell Dockett’s Tweet responding to Jim Mora’s criticism of Dockett’s controversial elbow to Matt Hasselbeck’s throat during Sunday’s game. When Jim Mora was repeatedly asked about the missed calls in Sunday’s game, and Darnell Dockett’s seemingly dirty play, Mora emphatically expressed his desire for his players to mimic Dockett’s actions if the refs were not going to call it.

After showing numerous flashes of talent as a receiver the last two seasons, TE John Carlson deserves a chance to become a bigger part of the Seahawks offense.

Huskies/Cougars

With the college football season nearing its end, Jake Locker will begin to hear advice from too many people regarding the QB’s plans next year. Bob Condotta writes Steve Sarkisian will only give Locker “information” on the NFL Draft, not “advice.” Condotta was also has highlights of Sarkisian’s Monday press conference. Coach Sarkisian elaborates further on his experience with future NFL QB’s facing a decision about entering the draft early. With the possibility of Jake Locker leaving for the NFL, and countless holes to fill on the roster, will the Huskies improve next season?

Considering the Seahawks and Huskies are falling out of interest quickly with every loss, Dave Boling is beginning to look ahead to the college basketball season. Unfortunately, the best match-up the state has to offer will not happen any time soon.

Washington State opened their men’s basketball season with a 67-61 victory over Eastern Washington. Klay Thompson led the way for the Cougars with 24 points.

Mariners

Shannon Drayer catches up on all the Mariner news that broke last week, and takes a look at what may be upcoming for the M’s this offseason.

Felix Hernandez pitched like a Cy Young Award winning pitcher this season. However, Larry Stone believes M’s fans will not be happy when the AL Cy Young Award winner is announced today.

Misc

With two new head coaches facing low points in their season, Jim Moore believes Steve Sarkisian is embracing reality slightly more so than Jim Mora.

    Ruskell is still here???
I'm utterly disgusted with the state of the seahawks. They can't protect the QB, and can't stop the run. And the guy responsible for personnel hasn't been dealt with? Since 2005 this team has been on a downward slope. Letting Hutchinson go, should have resulted in the firing of Ruskell. It's debatable as the whom was better, Hutchinson or Jones. But the fact is, together they made each other great. Facts: - Their corners are too small - The defensive line it's very good. Even the Cleveland browns have a solid D-line - The O-line has deteriorated each and every year since 2005 - The running game has deteriorated every year since 2005 - no o-line, how you going to run the ball? - No running game makes you one dimensional, so you got to pass. No blocking and, well just chalk up another one in the L column. - Offenses are supposed to eat time during the game. - Defense Don't [there are exceptions, but the hawks D isn't one of those D's] - These are all problems that have yet to be addressed since 2005. Ruskell is always playing the wait and see game. Prime example Walter Jones this year. Why does this chump still have a job? This guy runs out the ONE man this franchise has had that brought respectability, and acknowledgment to the Seahawks.... He runs him out for who? Jim Mora? This has go to be a joke right?

what's going wrong with our Defence????
Where is the multimillion $$$ defence TR built in last 4 yrs? I guess the Seahawks defence decided to go on a Holidays VACATION much earlier than they are suppose to be and by the time they show up again to work the 2009 football season will be all over and we will see another 4-12 season for 2 consecutive years. Where is the accountability Jim Mora was talking about??? Hopefully they evaluate everyone from top to bottom and start cleaning the house soon...rather than waiting until the end of the season...2009 Season is already lost...their are other teams in NFC with better records than Seahawks who will clinch the 2 available wild card births in NFC...time to rebuild and plan for the 2010 football season...and it should start with a fresh hire for Personnel Selection (Scout's in charge) position, who has the vision of balanced football team with both O-line and D-line personnel. Its time for Seahawks leadership to follow what Mariners did with their baseball team.

    You guys have your work...
... cut out for ya generating interest in sports now: Seahawks, Cougars, Huskies. It's like that Rob Schneider "Townie" character from the movie "The Waterboy" summed up the football being played in the state of Washigton during 2009 when he said, "We suck again!" Hopefully, Husky basketball can pick up the slack for these bozos and give us something good to cheer for. - E.C. Henry from Bonney Lake, WA

EC u r right on spot...
Yeah its kind of dull holidays season for seattle sports fans and really nothing to cheer. This year's Apple cup is the battle between the bottom 2 teams in PAC-10, so it will be a battle between 2 loosing teams...no excitement in that game. I hope Huskies Basketball team retains their PAC-10 championship for 2009-2010 Basketball Season...thats my only hope for the Seattle Sports fans.
