The Pacific Jazz Institute at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley presents the Seattle Jazz Singers for one night only, lead by Conductor/Artistic Director Frank DeMiero. Band members include Shawn Schlogel (piano), Louise Uriu (bass), Marshall Bilodeau (drums), Chris Gross (guitar), Vincent LíHirondelle (trumpet), Ken Kraintz (trumpet), Cody Cadden (trombone), Chris Ammons (soprano), Daisy Li Emans (soprano), Sarena Hyman (alto), Joanna Novakis (alto), Erin Cronshaw (alto), Michael Spiz (tenor), Nich Anderson (bass), and James Dennis (bass). Show starts at 7:30pm, doors open at 5:30pm.
Jazz in the Pacific Northwest and on the West Coast has taken on a new dimension with the appearance of one of the most exciting vocal groups on the scene today - the Seattle Jazz Singers have performed at festivals, jazz concerts, and jazz clubs throughout the Northwest. Recent performances include a concert at the DeMiero Jazz Festival, where they performed with legendary jazz guitarist and singer John Pizzarrelli. SJS has performed with the Cascade Youth Symphony at Benaroya Hall, the Vancouver BC Jazz Festival, the Vancouver (WA) Wine and Jazz Festival, and the DeMiero Jazz Festival, As guest artists with the Cascade Symphony, Cascade Youth Symphony, Everett and Vancouver Symphony Orchestras, the Seattle Jazz Singers have performed a commissioned 36-song Gershwin medley for full orchestra and jazz choir. SJS's third CD, "I Thought About You," exemplifies the groupís musical versatility and their ability to perform all styles of jazz.
