Claudia Schmidt has covered a lot of musical ground while touring the world for almost four decades. She presents a quirky and wonderful hodge-podge (her word!) of music, poetry, story, laughter, and drama, celebrating the moment.

“You never know what's going to happen next, chances are it's going to be wonderful, every moment is burned into your memory and you know you'll never be the same again." San Francisco Bay Guardian.

Claudia has traversed North America and Europe for about forty years, returning often to the Pacific Northwest. She had a regular stint on Public Radio International's "A Prairie Home Companion" in its early incarnation. In 2006 and 2007 she was a lead performer along with Ruth McKenzie and Prudence Johnson in The Gales of November, a musical retelling of the Edmund Fitzgerald tragedy from the point of view of three wives of the doomed crew of the Great Lakes ore-carrier.

Although she came out of the folk scene, and has kept one of her feet firmly planted there, in recent years Claudia has simultaneously devoted herself to jazz. The songs on her latest release, Bend In The River, range from folk to jazz and blues, always grounded in her uniquely agreeable style.
