Before June 19th $40 After June 19th $50
My name is Jeremy Carter, along with my best friend Ryan Barci we have callaborated in putting together a benefit concert for a disease that is not widely known, Usher Syndrome. This disease progressively takes away one's vision and hearing. Sadly this effects two people that are close to me, my wife and one of her brothers.
Usher syndrome is the most common cause of deaf-blindness in the United States. It is a combination of Retinitis Pigmentosa and some level of hearing loss. There are about 10-15,000 people with Usher syndrome in the United States today. Retinitis pigmentosa causes the degeneration of photoreceptor cells in the retina. Photoreceptor cells capture and process light helping us to see. As these cells degenerate and die, patients experience progressive vision loss.
The event is Friday July 19th at Winding Path Gardens in Arlington. To date we are at 50% of our capacity and have raised over $5000, all with roughly three months to go. But we need help getting the word out. I am writing with the hopes that the show would be able to give us a plug and talk about it on the air. This will be a fantastic evening for all that attend.
I have attached a flyer, but you can get full details at www.aconcertinthegarden.com. We will be featuring Seattle comedy icon Pat Cashman (Almost Live!/The 206), musicians Ethan Anderson with Levi Ware, and bluegrass duo Spoonshine. Our list of auction items is growing by the week but as of now our catalog includes: a 7 night stay in Cabo (airfare not included, a 2 night stay at Viola Winery in Cashmere, autographed items from the Seahawks, Sounders FC, US women’s soccer stars Hope Solo and Alex Morgan, Shawn Kemp, 2 Tickets to a UW football game and MUCH more.
As long time listeners of 710 ESPN, all of us from Grace's Hand would appreciate your help by putting this on your events calendar.
