Can equity actually lead to prosperity for a region? Or do we have to trade fairness for economic growth? On July 25, join University of Southern California professor Manuel Pastor, a self described "nerd for social justice" in the Reclaiming Prosperity speaker series (http://townhallseattle.org/reclaiming-prosperity-manuel-pastor) as he highlights how high levels of inequality have actually damaged our countrys productive potential and outlines alternative policy approaches of inclusion to achieve smart growth.

Manuel Pastor (http://bit.ly/THPastor) is a professor of Sociology and American Studies & Ethnicity at the University of Southern California. He is a well-known economist and expert on immigration, workforce demographics, and urban and regional movements for equity, economic opportunity, and growth. His recent books include, Just Growth: Inclusion and Prosperity in America's Metropolitan Regions, and This Could Be the Start of Something Big: How Social Movements for Regional Equity are Transforming Metropolitan America.
