Military personnel and their families will have the opportunity to reel in a good time and a lifetime of memories as they join enthusiastic volunteers at the Take A Warrior Fishing event scheduled at Renton's Coulon Park on Lake Washington, Saturday, September 14 from 8 am – 1:30 pm.

The event is a program of Renton-based C.A.S.T. For Kids Foundation.

Take A Warrior Fishing is designed to support military personnel and their families, specifically targeting wounded warriors, by providing an opportunity to enjoy a day of fishing and boating, and encourages continued participation by developing fishing skills for the participants and their families.

The free event provides a day of fishing on a boat targeting a variety of species of fish, followed by a BBQ lunch provided by Don & Larry’s BBQ Catering. Participants can register for this event at

Experienced local fishermen will provide their boats and their expertise. This event is made possible by the support of the Seattle Seahawks, Purple Heart Foundation, Western Bass Club, City of Renton, Renton Chamber of Commerce, Plano Tackle Systems, and Zebco.

"This is truly a unique event that creates memories for a lifetime," said Jim Owens, executive director. "Military personnel, their families and volunteers take away their own life lessons and appreciation through this rewarding and therapeutic event."
