At one point in their careers, Jeff Daniels, Swoosie Kurtz, William Hurt, Christopher Reeve, Kathy Bates, Richard Thomas, Cynthia Nixon, John Procaccino and UW alumna Lori Larsen all sank their teeth into the meaty roles of this comedic drama. Now faculty member Valerie Curtis-Newton directs second-year PATP students and gives them that same exciting opportunity. Set in rural Missouri in 1977, Fifth of July revolves around the Talley family and focuses on their disillusionment with America in the wake of the Vietnam War. Wilsonís poignant play is rife with acting challenges while actively confronting many American taboos.
