Date: Fri February 22, 2013 Show: Andrew Walsh Hosted by Jason Rantz // Guest Frank Shiers talked with a source with knowledge about the Hanford Nuclear leak, who wants to remain anonymous for fear he might lose his job. Jay Inslee calls latest development very disturbing news. Anonymous lead scientist spoke to the nature of leaking tank: Shiers was told any leaking waste has to travel through 300 feet of dry material, which could take hundreds of years. “Plutonium from the tanks WILL NOT get to the river”. // Assault weapons ban is dead in Washington State. State Senator Ed Murray was pushing the ban, however, today was the last day for non-budgetary items. Local company Starbucks has tolerant with open-carry law, and has been refusing efforts to have the company ban gun-carrying patrons. // Toure of MSNBC gives some misleading information on guns. He uses the argument that there is “little need for a gun” because there is little chance of being in a situation where it would be useful. Toure uses statistics from a study of gun violence in the home, but leaves out critical details about the study. // Sequestration update: If agreement is not reached, automatic spending cuts of $85 billion will kick in. President Obama is not acknowledging the fact that the sequester originated with him, and republicans aren’t acknowledging the fact that they accepted the deal.
