Matt has convinced Colin that now is the time to take a look at Nick Franklin. While he still thinks it is a little bit early, Ackley is doing nothing and the team needs to try something different. Colin thinks he may struggle like Kyle Seager in his very first call up, but it's worth a shot and maybe Ackley can find what's eluded him here in the meantime and be the player you expect him to be. Calls keep pouring in with suggestions.
OK, so we need to call up some prospects. How do the Mariners avoid the same problems with this round of prospects that plagued the current group that has floundered so far at the big league level? Matt thinks this mistake won't be repeated because these players are ready to play at this level and aren't being rushed. If one of the players doesn't work out, send them back down until they seem ready again, unlike this past crop who's lived or died with them at the big league level.
Colin takes a caller who thinks that any player the Mariners bring up is going to fail because of the poor track record. How can you be sure you don't fall into the trap that a prospect is going to be good because they put up solid minor league numbers and scouts like them?
