Was there a point to bringing in veterans this offseason? While Morales and Morse have helped the offense, were they brought in to actually compete or to trade for younger players near the trading deadline? Jack Z has not been shy about trading players, it doesn't appear that the players received in return have amounted to much if anything. Matt brings up the point that only Charlie Furbush is the only player contributing at the major league level from the Doug Fister trade.
What's the other option? Trading your farm system for established players. Has the team held prospects in such high regard that they've shunned major improvements at the big league level? Sure they had a trade for Justin Upton complete that he vetoed, but are there other moves to make? Also, how can we tell if a player is "mentally invested" in the game?
A Seahawks segment!! There is a ranking of players throughout the NFL and Russell Wilson came in at the 51st player overall. The rest of the list will be released shortly and the guys banter about where other players will be ranked.
