The Nightwatch

Seattle Sports at Night Hour 2

Originally aired: Monday, July 1, 2013

Jeff Sullivan of Fangraphs, USS Mariner and formerly of Lookout Landing joins the show to talk about the state of the Mariners and thinks the team actually has a chance to compete NEXT SEASON if the prospects with the team can meet expectations and the get the right veteran pieces in place. Have the Mariners accelerated development of prospects by calling up Franklin, Zunino and Miller? Will they send them down if they struggle? The kinder, gentler Mariners? How would Lou Piniella do with this young team? It didn't work in Tampa Bay, so I'm sure you could assume how it would go here. Is Eric Wedge the perfect best of both worlds manager where he can mold young players into solid everyday ballplayers and also turn the team into a contender like he did in Cleveland?
