Officials investigating the Asiana Airlines crash in San Francisco have determined the jet was traveling significantly below the target speed during its approach and that the crew tried to abort the landing just before it smashed onto the runway. // Seattle cops are using a new strategy to deal with club goers exiting Belltown bars at 2 a.m.: they're shutting down First Street. Yakima is trying a little-used law to stem drunken driving. After a person has been convicted twice of drunken driving in less than seven years, the city seizes the offender's vehicle. // Eliot Spitzer has announced he will run for New York City comptroller. // Five bodies have been recovered and at least 40 are still missing in a small town in Quebec after an unmanned train carrying thousands of barrels of oil crashed there over the weekend. Tensions are escalating sharply in Egypt. Egyptian soldiers opened fire early Monday on hundreds of supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsi. At least 43 civilians were killed, all or most of them shot, and more than 300 wounded.
