The Mayor and SPD say that crime downtown has been decreasing, but the Seattle Times reports crime numbers over the past 5 years remain steady with spikes during the summer months. John says there needs to be one specific metric to judge crime in a one specific area. Dave suggests business owner surveys. // SPD will be handing out fun-sized bags of Doritos to marijuana smokers at this weekend's Hempfest. John says this is an instance of SPD symbolism over substance. Dave says Hempfest is no longer relevant. // The death toll in Egypt has climbed to 525 this morning, with 3,700 reported injured. Dave and John talk to James Gelvin, a professor of history at UCLA and an expert on the social and cultural history of Egypt. He is the author of the book: The Arab Uprisings: What Everyone Needs to Know. // Pfc. Bradley Manning took the stand yesterday and apologized for hurting the United States and others. Also addressed in court was Manning's troubled childhood and his feeling that he was a woman trapped in a man's body.
