Mayor Mike McGinn has decided downtown Seattle isn't sufficiently safe after all. The city is going to spend $400,000 beefing up patrols to deter major crimes. // The Agriculture Department says raising a kid to the age of 18 will cost, on average, more than $241,000. That's up about $6,100 in one year. // U.S. Sens.
