Bail was set at $3 million Tuesday for the 16-year-old charged in the slaying of an 88-year-old World War II veteran in Spokane. The teen says he and his friend beat Delbert Belton to death because Belton shorted the teens on a sale of crack cocaine. // The beef between City Attorney Pete Holmes and Mayor Mike McGinn apparently continues. A SPD presser addressing repeat DUI offenders was reportedly canceled yesterday after Holmes refused to show up because McGinn was there. Brandi Kruse explains. // A U.S. special envoy will travel to North Korea this week and request a pardon and amnesty for Kenneth Bae. It appears the U.S. might be getting closer to working out a deal with the North Koreans. We talk to North Korea expert Gordon Chang about why North Korea is willing to negotiate now. // The city council in Edmonds voted 6-1 on a law that makes outdoor cats a civil violation. If a neighbor complains that feline owner can be hit with a fine. Tom says all cats should be freed.
