Volunteer searchers refuse to leave unstable mudslide in Oso
Originally aired: Monday, March 24, 2014
Dayn Brunner and about two dozen volunteer searchers are digging through the rubble of the Oso mudslide for their loved ones, defying Snohomish County orders to stay away.
"We're being told that we shouldn't be here because the hillside is unstable," Dayn explained, "But we're still looking, we're persevering, because that's what my sister would have done for me." Brunner admits he is not optimistic but still hopes to find his sister, Summer Raffo, alive. He spoke to KIRO's Libby Denkmann on Monday.
