The Mariners surprised us last night by giving us everything we wanted to see in their win over the Angels in the season opener. Former Mariner Dave Henderson says the Mariners were impressive in their debut. It's just one game, but it was a good way to start things off, so things are good. Don't put too much stock in spring training stats. When it comes to Smoak and Ackley, sure we wanted them to get good sooner, but sometimes development takes longer. He talks about the way leaders emerge on a team and says he's just as concerned with the rotation as everyone else. Tiger Woods is out from the Masters - he means so much to his sport and this is probably a huge blow to Augusta. Personalities drive sports just as much as performance.
