He's a Muslim

It didn't take long to confirm that the man who committed the Ft Hood massacre was a Muslim.

The Council on American Islamic Relations started preparing a statement the moment they heard the name "Hasan."

Bloggers quickly found a paper Hasan had re-posted on suicide bombing. I read it -- it actually makes the point that Islam CONDEMNS suicide bombing. However it also says that what IS honorable... is to be killed while attacking a military target.

Which has people whispering the inevitable question -- does this mean that American soldiers who are Muslim cannot be trusted?

-- A soldier rises to the rank of Major, is trained as a psychiatrist, and yet his final act is allegedly to shout Allahu Akhbar as he mows down fellow soldiers with a handgun? In a place where he knew none of them would have guns to defend themselves? That's frightening.

And yet, it's a dumb question. Because the military can't purge itself of Muslims. We're fighting in a Muslim country, on behalf of Muslims, either we understand the people we're trying to help, or we're going to lose.

I know this: several people came forward almost immediately to say he didn't want to go to Afghanistan. Which means his problems with the mission were no secret.

And so the REAL mystery why, in an all-volunteer force, you'd wouldn't just kick out someone who obviously doesn't want to be there. But Dave, you say, that's crazy, then everyone would want to leave.

Well, if that's true; if that many soldiers in a volunteer army don't support the mission -- then the mission is doomed. If THAT's true, I'm not surprised the President is having trouble deciding whether to send more troops.

    Should we be surprised?
After the number if incidents of terrorists joining police forces in Iraq and Afghanistan to gain access for killing infidels, we should have expected the same to happen here. 911 proved we are vulnerable. There used to be a law that you could not be forced into situations that violated your conscious on religious grounds. The basic problem is that we have become conditioned to remain silent on voicing concerns when we see warning signs because it violates our sensibilities in a Politically Correct Nation. Anyone who might have said anything before hand would have been labeled a fear mongering right wing racist Bush lover....We are now stuck with self induced dichotomy because interment camps didn't work out either.

    It's a sad day.
I feel for the families and their loss. Why couldn't this have been prevented? If he had so many misgivings about going then he should have been counseled and then reprimanded before scheduled to leave, if he was so vocal about his disdain in going. It's apparent he didn't want to go to Afghanistan and be forced to face other Muslims in combat. Not jsut Muslims but Muslima extremists, which I would assume means he had an affinity for their beliefs. This conflict in interest is apparent.

    PC has gone to far!
Now I can't say Dave's on the RAG. I have to say Dave's on some kind of feminine hygiene product or I'll be targeted by the PC police. You know, If I were still in the military, I wouldn't trust a muslim. You ask, "Why?" Well, I think as a religion in general, the leaders and followers are doing very little to denounce the terrible acts of these lunatic jihadists. You don't see them jumping in line anxious to root out the Al Quaeda leaders now, do you? Nidal Malik Hasan is another fine example, I say.

    On Another note....
I work with Muslims and it never crossed my mind that they wanted to kill me... So with millions of Muslims in the US not killing people, there must be other issues that need to be sorted out to help identify and prevent more isolated incidents like this... Is the media contributing to the problem by inferring the US missions are unjustified?

    Just kick him out?
How is he going to repay the benefits he reaped. I wonder how much he payed to earn his degree? He, and many, signed up for the military and reaped all kinds of benefits. The trade-off is you may be asked to serve overseas in a war someday.

    Combat?
He would have never been in combat. He was an REMF. He may have never heard a shot fired.

WE NEED TO STOP BEING POLITICALLY CORRECT!
How many more incidents have to happen before we can say that Muslim men from the ages of 18-40 are a threat and need to be watched. I said it! I spent a year in Iraq on the ground working with the Army and Iraqi's... the above statement has been proven TIME AND TIME again.

Dave How can I get the military to pay my way thru med school and not have to fulfill my part of the contract that I would have to sign. Maybe we need better screening but that is hard to do when we are so PC. (PC=Brainwashed)

    This is only my opinion......
Joining the military isn't about "being all that you can be", it isn't about "growth and finding yourself" and it definitely isn't about "rainbows and lollipops"! Our military is about the defense of our country and killing and death and destruction if that's what it takes to accomplish that task. People who sign up for the military knowing full well that the free education they are getting and all the benefits the government provides don't come with a price tag attached....I have no sympathy for. Anyone with half a brain, knows that there might come a day when Uncle Sam says, you gotta go here, or you have to go over there and you might just spend your days filing paperwork or you might be asked to disembowel an evildoer. If they don't want to go, that's fine. Strip them of their rank, have them make restitution of their education and any other perks they have received, give them a handshake and send them home. Don't strip them of their benefits for time served, but don't let them continue to receive them either. DO NOT destroy their lives. Our country has been involved in constant conflict for enough years that if you have enlisted in the last 10 years you know almost 100% that you are going into a HOT area. I never enlisted in the military, not because I don't love the U.S.A, (I fill sandbags and help senior citizens and young people and lots of other volunteer tasks) but because I saw no future in it for myself.
