Already snarky blogs have their annoying sexist, sterotyping headlines ("Good news for lesbians"), but I am thrilled and immediately started pulling together my dream line-up: Sarah (of course), Feist, Kelly Clarkson, Regina Spektor, Thao and the Get Down Stay Down, Shawn Colvin, India.Arie, Emmylou Harris, Rachael Yamagata, Indigo Girls, Ingrid Michaelson and finally...Joni Mitchell.
I promise not to rant, but this is a good thing (and not just for young women who will be inspired). This is a good thing for all of us.
As long as we are dreaming of line-ups let's not forget the great Nikko Case and possibly Amy Winehouse (if she can get her stuff together). And The Gossip...and...help me out Tens...
I went to a Lilith Fair in San Francisco in the late 90's, it was the most fun at a concert I've ever had.
I think this is such an awesome event.

which 30 rock character would be a bigger Lilith fan, giving a speech about strong sisters sistering it up........ Jenna or liz lemon? I rest my snarky case.
I just HOPE they make this event affordable. I unfortunately had to miss Lilith Fair the second time it went around (Sarah, Paula Cole, etc.) through Idaho because I was on the wrong side of the state...
At the time, the tickets were reasonable, but things seem to keep going UP UP UP in that world.
I'm not even of the female persuasion, but I can think of a bunch of women for Jen's dream list. The incredible Patty Griffin, for one. Tegan and Sara. Gillian Welch. Tift Merritt. Brandi Carlile would be an amazing addition. Imogen Heap. And hells yes, Neko Case should definitely be on the list. Le Tigre, or whatever Kathleen Hanna is doing these days.
I'm personally more of a fan of locally run festivals like Ladyfest. This year, Olympia is hosting laD.I.Y.fest/Gender Jam which will have all sorts of workshops as well as music. Western Washington 10s, come on down!

...if they had Whitesnake perform and all those chicks forementioned writhed around on a giant gleaming car hood whilst David Coverdale thrust his spandex clad nether regions in their collective direction. That would be a lilith fair worth attending.
Lilith Faire has always seemed super safe and do-goody. Where as Lady Fest is punky and celebrates bad-assery.
Not that there isn't a place for the Lilith Faires of the world, I'm all for all sisters doing it for themselves and such... but aside from Thao and Joni this seems snoozy.
