tbtl: big money rustlas

Michael Jordan's kid is ticking me off

For the last couple weeks everytime I see this story of the dispute between Marcus Jordan and his school over his insistance on wearing Air Jordans during games, my blood would simmer. But today, it's boiling.

Today his college lost their 3 million dollar Adidas contract because Marcus Jordan wants to "honor his father"...by wearing a pair of shoes? Be respectful, call him on Sundays, give him a nice Father's Day gift...these are just some suggestions that don't include your school losing money they use to pay your teammate's scholarships...kids who didn't grow up with a massively rich father who has been praised and honored and respected every second of the last 30 years.

One other thing: to the boys in my high school who pranced around in their Air Jordans...they didn't make you better basketball players, get over it.

...so, being a sellout is GOOD?
Jen, you are wrong, wrong, wrong, and here's why: take Marcus out of the story for a moment, and insert any other kid, one who has neither fame nor wealth. Let's say this other kid refuses to wear Adidas out of some principle of his own. What you're saying is, when corporate America shows up with a bag full of money, this kid should shut up, bend over, and take it with a smile. And why? Well, because the other kids could use that cash. Is that the kind of country you want? Do you want kids to sell out their principles to the highest bidder for some imagined "common good"? I think if you can set aside your hatred of the wealthy and privileged and take a look at the logical extension of your opinion, you'll be as appalled by your conclusion as I am.
