Citizen's sweet and savory crepes worth a taste
KIRO Radio
Citizen is not located where you'd expect a creperie to be. It's right next to a auto body repair shop, in a slightly off the beaten path neighborhood between the Seattle Center and Aurora Ave.
The inside space is actually taller than it is wide and the kitchen in Barbie's Dream House is bigger. But, in this case, it's not how big your pan is, but how you use it, and Citizen uses it very well indeed.
There are sweet crepes and savory crepes, and happily my intentions to be healthy and restrained were foiled by the hefty size of the menu offerings.
Take my avocado, roasted asparagus, spinach, caramelized onion, goat cheese and bacon crepe. Friends and neighbors, words fail me. Forget the foodie adjectives, I'm going with freaking awesome to describe that one.
Equally posterior-kicking was the andouille sausage, mozzarella, tomato, spinach, onion creme topped off with creme fraiche.
And you can build your own to the size and taste you're into.
Citizen has a really student apartment kind of feel, as well as a fresh sophomoric nose thumbing kid of vibe that charmed me. And the food was excellent.
Definitely worth one visit, two visits, maybe three, in one day that is!
